  • It is strongly suggested that all prospective and current students enroll in private study on their primary instruments. The KYO can provide information about private instruction enrollment.

HOW DO I JOIN?

Please contact our Recruitment Coordinator to express your interest! We are happy to answer any and all questions you may have about our programs.

  • Beginning students of all ages are invited to join the KYO Farm Team! No experience is necessary for enrolment. Students typically spend 2-3 years in developing their technical skills before graduating to our intermediate level orchestra.
  • Students typically having played for a minimum of 2 years are placed in the intermediate ensemble. The ensemble’s conductor will listen to you play during a short, friendly, and casual assessment meeting so that you are placed in the best ensemble to match your skill set. These meetings allow us to create the best conditions for learning and to maintain our standards of excellence.
  • Auditions for intermediate level musicians applying for senior KYO ensemble are held annually in late May/early June.
  • Auditions (which are required) for returning senior KYO ensemble members are held annually in late May/early June.
  • August/September assessments and auditions do occur, but are reserved only for prospective KYO members.
  • Auditions may be arranged as necessary and on an individual basis throughout the performance season.
